Misc. Notes: This is the fourth part of a series of approximately 25 photographs of the mural and graffiti art panels along Central Street in Vancouver I plan on posting here on Graffiti Near Me. From some of the other panels where the artists tagged their own work, it seems these panels went up around 2007. The mural panel above features an inukshuk (of the inunnguaq variety) – a “stone landmark or cairn built by humans, used by the Inuit, Inupiat, Kalaallit, Yupik, and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America.”1 The text in the mural reads (if I’m not mistaken): “Inuksuk – Now the People Will Know We Were Here”. Note that the artist uses the spelling ‘inuksuk’ rather than the more common English spelling ‘inukshuk’. ‘Inuksuk’ is the spelling preferred by the Inuit.1 If anyone has information about this particular panel, please share in the comments section of this post.

Technical Notes: The photograph was taken with an Olympus Stylus 300 digital camera (a point-and-click).

Misc. Notes: This is the first part of a series of approximately 25 photographs of the mural and graffiti art panels along Central Street in Vancouver I plan on posting here on Graffiti Near Me. Here’s the thing — because of obstructions and the weather, I wasn’t able to capture photographs of all the panels! So there are more than 25 of them. From some of the other panels where the artists tagged their own work, it seems these panels went up around 2007. If anyone has information about these panels in general, please share in the comments section of this and other upcoming posts in this series.
